You could have endometriosis! Have you ever been checked for this? Also have you ever considered trying the birth control pill to regulate your periods. Let us know how you make out. We hope you feel better soon.

Kamilah, I know what you are going thru b/c I am going thru the same thing, Is just seem that there is nothing that the doctor can do, but I do beleive that there is something that can be done, I was given some medicine to stop the periods which tend to last a while, but as soon as I stop the medicine, I start to bleed again, but just to let you know, you are not alone...

Kamilah and Richelle,
I used to have very irregular cycles also. The longest I went without one was 4 months and the longest period I had was 3 months long...it may have gone longer but the doctor started me on birth control pills to stop the bleeding. To make a long story short I had was diagnosed with abnormal uterine lining (it was quite thick), anemia from the blood loss, anovulatory cycles(I wasn't ovulating more than once or twice a year) possible endometriosis and after a biopsy and D&C found out thast the uterine lining was so thick because I had uterine polyps.
I used birth contol pills for 1 1/2 years, taking them continuously for 3 months at a time to keep from having a period. It worked great!! Everything calmed down. I stopped using the birth control pills 3 months ago because I was having some side effects I didn't want to deal with and decided to try using natural progesterone cream and sublingual oil drops. They have been great also plus I don't have any side effects. The reason I'm telling you this is because I'm wondering if you've had an ultrasound done to check the uterine lining, plus, if your cycles are out of wack it's probably because your hormones are inbalanced and you're not ovulating regularly. Also, while you can't use birth control pills while your trying to get pregnant you can use progesterone cream because it can help regulate your cycles and make you more fertile. If your not ovulating regularly then the lining of the uterus doesn't form properly or shed regularly and you can't get pregnant. If your interested in the cream and oil I can give you the websites that I ordered them from. They say it can take up to 3 months for you to see results but obviously I saw results sooner. Hope this helps.... I sure do know what your going through and can totally sympathize with you. I went through crazy cycles for 8 years before I finally got someone to listen and it took 6 months until I was finally referred to a specialist who ordered the biopsy and D&C and continuous pills to finally help my problem. Hugs to you both!

Thanks for the advice Tiara... Yes can you please give me the website you ordered the cream from, I was reading up on somethings, and things that you mention, that your doctor did with you is what the author of the book was saying that may need to be done, I have gave up on trying to get pregnant, but I just want it to be where my cycles are regular and normal, So are you still on birth control?

Richelle,

No, I stopped using the pill in November, waited a week, then started using the cream AND sublingual progesterone oil. I'mnot looking to get pregnant right now. The reason I'm using the oil and the cream is because I did some reading and realized that my body was estrogen dominant... so to correct that I had to stop using the pill (which contains estrogen) and use just progesterone and the sublingual oil was to help get the progesterone in my body faster.
What book are you reading, just out of curiosity ?(I'm a research nut) Here's the website for the cream, you can also get a book on the website which I've read and helped me make the decision to use natural hormones...
www.resonancedirect.com

Here's the one for the oil I'm using as well...
www.vitaminexpress.com/prodinfo/KNprogst.htm

And here's the website that helped clarify the hormone imbalance issue....
http://www.johnleemd.net/forms/hb_test.html

Hope these help some, although I think one of the most important thing I did was have the D&C done.
The GYN that did the procedure said that by the looks of the lining and polyps the lining had been building for YEARS and I'm only 21! Plus the longer the old lining remains there the higher the risk I ran of getting an infection. Going off the pill and choosing to use other, more natural methods is my thing... my doctor would probably think I'm crazy but if I can get the same results with a more natural product I'm all for it. Enjoy the websites I've listed here and let me know what you think! Later!!

Richelle,
I have the same problem, there is a name for it though it is called endometriosis or atleast it is in my case.I was on Birth control when I got pregnant. The pills were regulating my periods, and yes I questioned the doctor as to how I could get pregnant while using the pill. Well I got my answer I had been taking an antibiotic which counteracted the affects of the pill. If I were you I would get a check up for endometriosis and see what the doctor says to do from there. This is just what happened to me and how I was able to get pregnant at all.

When My cycle was on that long, I went to the doctor and he gave me some medicine, which stopped it for a few days and it was back on, but only for a few days, but to be honest I have giving up, b/c I am a self pay patient and it costs me to go the doctor, So I only go when I have to, but I have researched a few things and I am also reading up on somethings also,

Hi

I've been reading all your messages on 'Long Periods'. I too am suffering from the same problem, it's just started recently. I've been married for nearly four years now and am yearning for a child. My has always been regular up until November last year. I had a period November, lasted 7 days. The first day of my period in December 2003 was the 25, since then I have been and still am bleeding. It's not heavy but never the less it's really worrying me. I'm too scared to go to the Doctors, I keep thinking to myself that I won't be able to handle it if she turns around and says that I'll never be able to have children. What do I do?? Please help!
